Bright colors and fun graphics was most important to the client. Because the AD is published on newsprint, we wanted really bright colors to help it stand out against the dull paper. We also think the bright colors help the postcard stand out in a pile of mail.

Elite wanted a design that would be easy to make a fresh color change to in the future. We'll print this one again later this summer switching out the pink for another bright color. We couldn't find any stock images we liked, so I illustrated the stage lights in the upper left-hand corner and manipulated the image of the stage lights in the background.

This program was 2-sided print on 8.5x11 paper and folded in half. I love designing materials for Dream Project. Their shows always have though-provoking themes which allows my creativity to really flow. The 'headlines' in the interior of the program are actually the names of each of the performances. I really had fun playing with the typography in this project.

I recently made this for a friend of mine (name, date and location have been changed for privacy, of course). Her son is having a Spiderman birthday party so she hired me to design a custom invitation for the occasion. My three year old son approved the design before I sent the proof :o)

Throughout the book, we included inspirational quotes and Q&A's from the students.

Competition Team Pages

There were several pages dedicated to fun pictures of special events.

To help offset costs, the dance company sold ad spaces to local businesses and parents. The 'Friends' pages offer space for yearbook signing.

I hope the yearbook is one that that the parents, teachers and students will cherish for years to come!

More to come from this series...we're working on a yearbook and t-shirt graphics, which will have the same theme as the poster above. This year's recital is fairytale-themed, hence the name, Once Upon a Time. The client wanted to visually express this theme without making the piece look too juvenile. I think we succeeded.

This graphic is for Hollyday's new website. Holly is working with a web designer to put together the site but she had me create the graphic for the homepage. Holly was inspired by Andy Worhol's Marilyn Monroe painting yet wanted to incorporate scrapbook paper that would be in keeping with the look and feel of her handmade cards. That inspiration led to what you see above.

Pathway Control Products Catalog

After months of work and many revisions, the Pathway Control Products catalog is finally off to the printer! The catalog is a 2-color print (Black and Pantone 288) and has 66 pages. Besides having a professional look, my client wanted to be sure that the catalog was user-friendly so that their customers would be able to easily learn about and order the products they manufacture. Another aspect that influenced the basic design is that my client wanted to be able to print separate pages of the catalog from his office printer, if needed (hence, no bleeds). I think we succeeded in making that happen.

My sister's friend, Holly, asked me to help her with a logo for her handmade greeting card business. Holly loves cardinals and wanted a logo that she could easily draw, kind of like a signature. She had a concept for the logo already so she sent me the post-it note doodle below and asked if I could turn it into digital format.

I got to work in Illustrator and here's our final product:

This project was done for a dance studio in Colorado. They needed a program for their upcoming show. They already had a poster made by another designer and asked me to design the program using their poster as the cover.

My challenge was to mix casual and sophistocated in an invitation inviting nursing co-workers over for brunch. The client wanted to use Fall colors (without making it look like Halloween or Thanksgiving) and the rest was up to me.

Digital Silhouettes

These silhouettes were created digitally, as opposed to traditional paper-cut silhouettes. First, I took photos of the children then clipped out their images in Photoshop and added the text (names and birthdates) in Illustrator.

Preschool Class Logo

I worked as a part-time preschool teacher for a year and utilized my art and design skills whenever possible. Each class had was assigned an animal and we were to come up with a name for our class. My co-teacher and I came up with the name and I designed this logo for our class. For the record, two year olds will challenge your creativity like no one else can!

Vintage Alice Birthday Party

This invitation was for my daughter's 5th birthday party. Since I had grown tired of all the commercialized cookie-cutter party themes, I decided to give my daughter an Alice in Wonderland party with a vintage twist. Using vintage illustrations purchased online, I created the invitations, decorations, and party favors. However, I cannot take credit for the black and white illustration used on the front of the invitation - it was done by an extraordinary papercut artist that I found on Etsy named, Elsita. Her art is amazing, so check it out by clicking on her name.

The jar labels for the party favors were printed on sticker paper and cut with a lace paper punch.

The cupcake toppers featured a vintage illustration of the white rabbit.

Jones-Rushing Wedding Invitations

The map was printed on vellum paper and included in the wedding invitation, pictured below.

To stay within her budget, the bride chose to purchase pre-designed invitations by Anna Griffin. I handled the typography and printing of the invitations as well as the design and production of the vellum maps.

Top Producer Cruise Invitation

I created this custom invitation when I worked for an in-house marketing group. Our company took our top producers on an annual cruise and each year I was in charge of creating all of the printed and promotional materials. For this year's theme, I chose to include my personal love of antique maps. The invitations were 5.5" x 17" and were tri-folded and sealed with a custom made wax seal that featured the company's logo.

Oh, and in case you haven't figured it out yet, the image on the left is the outside of the invitation.
